Lumbago is used to generally describe lower back pain and is quite a common phenomenon. In most cases, the root cause and why it occurs is often a mystery and doctors are unable to provide an answer for why this condition occurs in most patients. It can occur in various instances and many of these include daily routine matters. Things like lifting heavy material, lack of exercise, too much exercise after a long period of time, already weak backs, extensive training, excessive procrastination and sitting in a position which is uncomfortable for the lower back can all contribute to the incidence of the problem.

Some of the common and frequently reported symptoms include pain experienced in the lower part of the leg. The pain does not extend to the legs, but is limited to the area of the lower back. A feeling of stiffness is experienced in the back especially in the morning. An uncomfortable posture or an āSā shape in the spine, technically known as scoliosis, is also part of the symptoms of lumbago. Although it is not a very serious concern, it can be extremely unconformable for the individual involved. The only remedies available are plenty of rest. If the case is quite severe in a patient, then excessive rest is required to store the individual back to their healthy self. Lying straight in bed, with the back on the mattress is an effective way to guarantee the possibility of an early recovery. Most doctors suggest that the patient be admitted to bed rest for at least two weeks in order to be fully cured.
Another possible remedy is to apply heat to the area where the pain is situated the most. Heat has long been known to cure a variety of minor illnesses and diseases and this condition can also be cured through the process of applying heat. Gentle heat is required, not extreme full boiling temperatures which are sure to burn the skin. The heat should be kept at a moderate and comfortable temperature which is often also designed to lull the patient into sleep induced comfort zones, causing a lot of relief to the lower back and the source of pain.
Hot baths seem to be another effective remedy. Another sort of heat therapy, hot baths have always been known to provide relief. Even after a long day at work, most people unwind with a hot bath to provide relief to their backs. Such baths are definitely designed to cure the pain caused and has been known to be quite sufficient in the way of treatment. Another solution would be to consult a sports specialist or a qualified doctor who would be able to make a correct and accurate diagnosis. This is especially helpful for cases who have been suffering from prolonged lower back pain that has been continuing for a long period of time. If the condition persists for a long period of time, it is advisable to seek full rehabilitation and back education program, which will be extremely helpful in treatment.
